The Bishop Patrick White
Parish Priest

Welcome Bishop Patrick and Elizabeth!
In November 2022, we welcome Bishop Patrick White as our interim parish priest.
Elizabeth, my wife and I, returned to Canada from Bermuda at the end of August 2012 to begin our retirement. Since this move might surprise some folk let me say the primary reasons for returning to Toronto are family and the fact that we love it here. And I love the snow.
My mother, who was alive at the time and who also lived in Toronto, died in 2014 at the age of ninety-five. With her passing, Elizabeth and I, who are both only children, became orphans. Or to put that more positively, we are now the Matriarch and Patriarch of our little family. We have two daughters, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. All living in the GTA.
I had served as a priest in the Diocese of Bermuda for nine years before becoming Bishop there in 2009. I served in that capacity for three and a half years, retiring at the end of August just before my seventieth birthday (the “sell by” date for Bishop’s there).
Prior to serving as Bishop of Bermuda, I had also served as a priest in the Diocese of Toronto for a total of twenty-three years (Assistant Curate, St Matthew’s Islington, incumbent at St John’s Oak Ridges, St Paul’s Rexdale, All Saints Whitby, and between stints in Bermuda, as Associate Rector at St John’s Yok Mills).
In 1994 I was awarded the degree, Doctor of Ministry (DMin) conferred co-jointly by the Toronto School of Theology and the University of Toronto. In 2009 I was awarded the honorary degree Doctor of Divinity (DD) by Wycliffe College. This is an honor bestowed on all Wycliffe Graduates who become Bishops. (I believe that Trinity College does the same for their graduates). These degrees give me a lot of letters after my name with no increase in pay!
My hobbies include photography, singing, and playing my guitar (not so much these days!). Elizabeth was a hand-bell ringer (not so much these days) and is a Royal Conservatory (Toronto) trained soprano.
