Join us for our 2019 Holy Week observances at St. Mary’s
On Sunday April 14 we will be observing the beginning of Holy Week, with our traditional Palm Sunday Observances. Please join us at our 8 am or 10:30 am services, as we mark Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem with the Blessing of the Palms and end with the reading of the Passion, to prepare us to walk with Jesus through his death and into his Resurrection.
During Holy Week, there will be Noonday Services everyday. Please join us Monday to Thursday at noon as we communally pray ‘The Stations of the Cross’. This half hour service will serve to anchor our spirits this week, so we can embrace the depth of love revealed through Christ’s unfailing determination to journey towards the cross for all humanity. Please join us through the week as you are able.
At 7:15 pm on Maundy Thursday, April 18 we begin our walk towards Christ’s crucifixion by marking the events of the ‘Last Supper’. Join us as we celebrate Holy Communion on this special night with, The Washing of Feet, Stripping of the Altar and a Time of Prayer, to remember the experiences of our Saviour as he prepared for wait was to befall him the following day.
Our Family Stations of the Cross Program begins at 9:45 am on Friday, April 19. We will begin in the main church at 9:45 am and will process our Sunday School Cross through our neighbourhood, journeying back to the Old Chapel. Upon our return, we’ll have some children’s programming in the Chapel and some light refreshments. All are welcome.
The traditional Good Friday Service begins at 11 am on April 19. Please join us as we remember and celebrate the Passion of Our Lord, and venerate the Holy Cross, with music, prayer, reflection and meditation.
As we look to begin our journey from darkness to light, St. Mary’s will be holding an Easter Vigil Service at 7 pm on Saturday, April 20. Please join us as for our Vigil and Baptism as we celebrate our first Easter service with the light breaking through the darkness and new members being enfolded into the body of Christ.
On Sunday, April 21 we will gather to celebrate The Feast of the Resurrection, as we mark Easter Day. Join us at our 8 am and 10:30 am services, as we have special music and programming to mark the Triumph of Christ over the ways of sin and death!
A blessed Holy Week journey to one and all!
